This compost bin (compost tumbler) is manufactured to a high standard from 100% British Recycled Plastic. A really clever design. Probably one of the best on the market, a great gardening product to buy.

Barrel colour may vary from the image shown depending on availability. Can be grey or black.

IMPORTANT NOTE: The Drums used in our compost tumbler are reclaimed from the food industry, and reused, and may therefore have scratches and scuffs related to this previous use. By reusing this product we are preventing it from ending up in landfill, and also avoiding the energy consumption needed to turn it into plastic flake, remould it, and deliver it as a different product. Reuse is considered superior to recyling. It is a better, more ecologically sensible choice. For this reason we hope you will choose this greener product to other compost tumblers on the market.

Some of the unique features are:

  • Promotes rapid decomposition - mulch produced in weeks rather than months
  • Valuable nutrients are retained within the bin and not allowed to leach into the ground as with traditional compost bins
  • The two most important elements of composting Moisture and Heat are evenly distributed by the tumble action

How it Works -

Fill the Drum of the compost bin - This system is flexible, there is more than one way to go about it. As a rule of thumb for the fastest method - add about 4 parts fresh green material (nitrogen producing) to 1 part dry brown material (carbon producing). Ideal green material includes fresh grass trimmings, fresh leafy material, poultry and equine waste and kitchen waste. Ideal brown material includes dry leaves, wood, black and white paper and cardboard. To achieve the fastest results coarse material like cardboard and wood should be shredded first.

Rotate the Compost Drum –

Rotate the drum of the Compost Tumbler 2-3 times once a day, to ensure the contents are aerated and spend time in the hot centre of the Compost Tumbler. (By the way my 89-year-old mother can happily turn this tumbler while full).

Use the compost –

During the warmer months of April to October, compost can be ready after just 2 or 4 weeks with this compost bin. Mix it liberally with soil on anything you want to grow, or apply around the base of growing plants as protective mulch.

Delivered promptly.
Easy instructions to follow. I was able to put this together on my own although it would have been easier with two people when it came to lifting the barrel onto it's fixings.
My only complaint is that the holes were not drilled sufficiently wide enough for the central bar to go through. Was able to gouge a wider hole with a screw driver as the plastic is quite soft - but could have done without the hassle.

Thanks Sian. Yours is the first complaint about this hole so far in 2 years. The hole is 10mm and the threaded bar is 10mm, so it's strange you couldn't push it through. However, based on your experience, we are increasing the hole size to 10.5mm, so this should help future customer. Many thanks for taking the time to give this review.

site was so easy to use.delivery was very quick.it was so easy to assemble.we did put extra Lbrackets on to makeit more steady.but was very happy with our purchase

Good design, efficient service. Maybe my compost is heavier than average, but find it fairly unsteady in the turn (agree with John's comments). I can't see the frame surviving very long at this rate.
Kedel Comment: Read the composting instructions carefully. Especially note 2/3 brown to 1/3 Green waste, and do not over fill - max 2/3 full. This gives best compost quality and does not overload the base.

Arrived on day req'd. and was easy to assemble with diagram supplied. However, I found it a little unstable rotating it with about a half load. This was cured by fixing feet to the ground, which in my case meant simply screwing into a wooden deck it stands on.

This is the best composter design I've come across and it's 'green' i.e.a converted food industry barrel and the stand is made from recycled plastic. I don't mind buying this sort of plastic!

Looks as if it should last,, although maybe the middle holes for the bar by which it rotates, might be a little strengthened with an inset thickener for the sides of the drum. But that is only guessing. let's use it.
