Nailer battens that never rot

Never may seem like a long time, but that's the problem with plastic.

Mostly plastic doesn't break down very fast, though there are people who have made some that does.

Our recycled plastic nailer battens are made from your waste plastic collected from UK households and businesses.

They do not rot, so they will never need any maintenance, and are unlikely to ever need replacing in our lifetimes.

Future proof building materials

For the building and construction industry this rot free, maintenance free material is a truly great asset and provides an ideal substitute for tanalised timber in damp and wet conditions.

Wood products are generally tanalised - impregnated under pressure with highly toxic substances such as arsenic - to protect against rot. Look for a pale green stain soaked into the outer layer, typically on roughly sawn softwood such as battens, which otherwise wouldn't last any time at all in the wet.

Although we can't advise against buying such products we are offering an alternative that is streets ahead compared to tanalised timber.

It's interesting to discover that burning tanalised wood releases arsenic, a cumulative poison, into your immediate atmosphere. Splinters from it leave a wound that takes much longer to heal.

Recycled plastic performs much better and you can expect our recycled plastic nailer battens to last at least 5 times longer than any tanalised timber on the market.

In fact we had a customer recently who ordered tanalised timber for a job and on inspection he found 'dry rot' growing on it. He sent it all back and called us.

Your initial outlay is recouped from reduced maintenance and replacement costs in 2-5 years.

The environmental problems associated with plastic would be vastly diminished if we recycled a lot more of the plastic we use.

7% is where we are at the moment. 93% goes into landfill or gets incinerated. Consequently, landfill now contains about 30% plastic. Your council tax reflects this. Landfill sites don't come cheap and building contractors pay increasingly for their use. So if it can be recycled

But this is really a criminal waste. Here we have a very practical, robust, reusable and recyclable material which is based on oil, and oil as we all know is running out.

Why are we throwing it away?

Mainly because new ways processing waste plastic and new applications for it have been slow in coming, but now it has come of age, and new legislation has now come into force that mandates the use of recycled materials in all new building projects.

So here it is, the product of the future available now, ready and waiting for you - make an order today!
