Making The Most of The Summer Weather In Your Garden

As summer starts drawing to a close, we’re often left not knowing how to make the most of the final days of sunshine and warmth.

With our gardens becoming an even bigger part of our lives over the past year and a half, it only makes sense that we make the most of being able to use our own private space while the sun’s still shining.

Today, the expert garden team at Kedel have put together this guide on how you can make the most of the summer weather in your garden this year.

Have a garden party

A summer garden party is a great way to meet up with your friends and family together, and is as suitable for children as it is for adults!

Put on a buffet, play some summer hits and laugh with your loved ones as you enjoy some of the final days of summer.

Host a BBQ

Perfect for late summer evenings, barbecues are an ideal alternative to garden parties if smoked meat and burgers are more your thing.

Whether you opt for a coal barbecue or simply use the grill in your oven, there’s nothing more exciting than gathering all your friends and family together for some good food.

When it comes to making sure everyone has a space to sit, our selection of recycled plastic garden chairs and recycled plastic picnic benches are hard-wearing and comfortable, while our recycled tables are ideal for holding food and drink.

Tidy & Prepare

Preparing your garden and outdoor space for Autumn and Winter should be done as close to the end of summer as possible, but depending on the size of your garden, could take several weeks to complete.

The following are an example of what could be on your checklist:

  • Cut your grass - Mowing your lawn when it’s wet can be dangerous, so it’s best to do this while it’s still relatively dry

  • Get rid of dead plants - Any plants that are at the end of their season should be pulled and composted. This helps your garden look neat and tidy, even in the cold

  • Plant bulbs for next Spring - Planting some bulbs now will mean that they’ll be ready to flower next Spring

Move your office outside

Whether you’re still working from home or have recently accepted a completely remote role, there’s no point in wasting sunny days by being trapped in a stuffy office.

With so many benefits of working from home, being able to go and work outside when you feel like it is something often taken for granted during summer.

Have a picnic with your family

Simple, but so much fun; a picnic in the garden is a treat for the whole family and the perfect way to spend a Sunday afternoon.
